Welcome Back Team Sosua!
World Vets has just had a veterinary team return from Sosua, Dominican Republic. There they provided a free large scale sterilization campaign. We’d like to thank Fondation Brigitte Bardot, the entire crew of Asociacion de Amigos por los Animales Sosua (AAAS) as well as World Vets volunteers for making this a successful operative.
Unlike many field condition clinics, we had the luxury of gas anesthesia! This allowed for 189 safe spay/neuters to be provided as well as 14 additional sur
geries to be performed. Overall, 226 animals were seen and treated by our team.
World Vets will be sending a follow up team to Sosua in November. Stay tuned for this upcoming volunteer opportunity. All upcoming projects are listed here

With super storm Sandy passing through regions of the US and Canada,it is a great reminder of the danger that weather and disasters pose to not only humans and property, but to our furry friends. We encourage those living in disaster prone areas to consider our technical animal rescue course as a preparatory measure they
can take in order to help animals in their community during such events. No previous experience is required.
This past week World Vets conducted a spay neuter campaign in Cusco, Peru that was sponsored by Fondation Brigitte Bardot. We thank Fondation Brigitte Bardot for their continual support of our efforts, along with our dedicated team members and local partners; Pataz Pro Animalista Cusco, Yanapana Peru, Lazzy Veterinary Clinic as well as the local veterinarians that took part. Seguimos adelante por el bien estar de animal!
World Vets recently had an all female team that traveled to Zanzibar, Tanzania. Working with Zanzibar Animals Affection Society (ZAASO) they provided a 3 day island – wide spay neuter campaign. Services were provided outside of Stone Town, to the north in Nungwi and in the eastern town of Paje. They even squeezed in some time to treat donkeys! We’d like to thank these wonder women, ZAASO and Fondation Brigitte Bardot for making this campaign possible.

As part of our International Veterinary Medicine (IVM) Program based in Nicaragua, we have a unique opportunity for veterinarians. The IVM Program provides veterinary skills training as well as practice to veterinary, pre veterinary as well as veterinary technology students. The goal of this program is to teach students skills that are clinically relevant and to allow them to perform as many hands-on tasks as possible without compromising patient comfort or care.
g on this program provide the instruction and are encouraged to teach students their technique. This way vets are not only confident in what they are teaching but it also allows for students to be exposed to several different approaches. Volunteer instructor positions are also open to licensed veterinary technicians. If you enjoy teaching and/or mentoring others, this is an ideal volunteer opportunity for you!
