Multiple Large Scale Operatives Conducted Across the Globe

During the month of August, World Vets was in Central America, South America and Eastern Europe carrying out large scale operatives for small animals. We had veterinary teams in Nicaragua, Peru and Albania where over 700 spay/neuter surgeries were performed by our dedicated volunteers.

We wish to thank Fondation Brigitte Bardot for their support of these endeavors, our local partners collaboration, in addition to our veterinary teams passion and tireless efforts. Hundreds of animals benefited from these campaigns and we are extremely grateful for everyone’s contribution in realizing this.

Caribbean Sterilization Campaigns Completed

Animal recipients in Roatan, Honduras and Nevis (located in the West Indies) are benefiting from World Vets free veterinary services this month. World Vets has two veterinary teams deployed in these Caribbean locations where they are operating free sterilization and animal health campaigns.

We’d like to thank our volunteers, local partners, and their supporters, for the great turn out and the success of these campaigns! We’re also grateful for the support of Fondation Brigitte Bardot for their continual support of our animal welfare efforts.

Training Local Veterinarians & Providing Veterinary Services in Paraguay

World Vets recently had a veterinary team in the landlocked South American country of Paraguay. One of the objectives of their visit was to provide free instruction for local veterinarians in performing spay/neuter surgeries. Another aim was to provide a high volume sterilization and animal health clinic for the poor barrios of Asuncion. During their visit, our team encountered very many sick animals requiring a variety of treatments and procedures. Nevertheless, they successfully executed both objectives, which benefited both local professionals in addition to the small animal population.

We would like to thank our team of dedicated volunteers, Fondation Brigitte Bardot as well as local partners Adoptame for their support and efforts that made this campaign possible.

Low Cost Volunteer Opportunity in the Caribbean this Winter!

Join World Vets in the Caribbean for a One Health concept project which collaborates with local government including the department health!

World Vets has been contributing to island health in San Andres Island since 2012 by providing free large scale spay/neuter campaigns, in addition to other treatments for companion animals. This winter a World Vets team will travel to sister island, Providence Island, from December 8 -15, 2014. Read more project details here

The project fee associated with this volunteer opportunity is significantly lower than other opportunities currently available. Two Teams Return from Campaigns in South America

We have just had two great teams complete campaigns in South America! Both provided free veterinary services, including spay/neuter as well as health consultations and treatments. Such services benefited companion animals in Ecuador and Peru respectively.

We`d like to thank World Vets volunteers on both teams for an outstanding effort as well as our local partners, participating muncipalities, in addition to Fondation Brigitte Bardot for their continual support of these life changing campaigns.

Volunteer in Ecuador & Visit the Galapagos Islands

Since 2009, World Vets has been providing large scale spay/neuter campaigns benefiting animals in the municipalities of Ibarra and Otavalo. Within these last five years, World Vets has established agreements within these areas that have acted to cease municipal sponsored poisoning campaigns in exchange for free spay/neuter services being provided.

Spay/Neuter clinic

Located in northern Ecuador, with the Andes mountains not too far away, volunteers pass through and visit the Equator marker on their way to the project location. Volunteers also have free time to enjoy local sights and attractions and are encouraged to extend their trip by a few days to visit the famous Galapagos Islands.

World Vets will be sending a team to Ecuador November 8 – 15, 2014 to provide a large-scale spay/neuter campaign. The team may also perform any other surgical procedures needed on a case-by-case basis.

New Friendships Made While Helping Animals in Peru

A World Vets team has just returned from Peru after providing a very successful large scale spay/neuter campaign within the district of Cusco. In a few short days, our team was able to perform over 200 surgeries as well as assist many animals that had been suffering for a long time. In particular Trixie (pictured left) who was finally able to have her leg amputated after many years of carrying around the lifeless limb. As reported by our local partners, she has made a full recovery and is now up and running about.

This campaign also served as a great reminder about how our projects not only bring together like minded professionals, they also serve as a great opportunity for information exchanges between our volunteers and local practitioners. Many new friendships were made benefiting both furry friends and their local veterinary service providers.

A True Island Effort: Colombian Military working alongside World Vets

For the last few years World Vets has been partnering with the Department of Health on San Andres Island to help control the small animal population through spay/neuter.

During these campaigns, we are also joined by members of the Colombian military who assist our teams in transporting dogs, providing crowd control and other tasks involved with the clinic.

We just recently completed a large scale spay/neuter and animal health campaign which resulted in close to 200 surgeries being performed.

We’d like to thank all of our local partners for a true island effort as well as our volunteers and Fondation Brigitte Bardot who help make this project possible.

We have another campaign scheduled in San Andres Island December 1 – 8, 2014. Volunteer opportunities on this project coming soon!

World Vets has been working with the San Andres Island Department of Health since 2012. Together we are bringing much needed veterinary services to the small animal population and in turn improving the overall public health on the island. Our large scale spay/neuter and animal health campaigns target both roaming and owned animals.

Join our team to make a difference for animals in the Dominican Republic and have free time to enjoy the island too! This project is scheduled to run May 20 – 27, 2014. See more details here

World Vets has been working in the Dominican Republic since 2011 to tackle such issues as pet overpopulation. Our efforts have consisted of providing assistance through spay/neuter training, large scale sterilization campaigns as well as product donations. As a result of these efforts hundreds of animals have received free spay/neuter surgeries as well as quality veterinary care. All of which has contributed to the overall improvement of animal health and responsible pet ownership in the area.
