World Vets Gives Back to Local Animal Welfare Community
Although World Vets work is primarily operated in foreign countries, we take pride in helping the local Fargo ND/Moorhead MN community where our headquarters are based. Just recently World Vets made two substantial donations to 4 Luv of Dog Rescue and the Human Society Fargo – Moorhead.
To celebrate the opening of their new facility in Moorhead, MN, W
orld Vets delivered supplies to 4 Luv of Dog Rescue valued at $2,097. The donation shipment included more than 500 lbs. of dog food to help the animals at their new facility and in foster homes. Additionally, the veterinary supplies and cat and dog food donated to the Humane Society was valued at $5,800.
We believe every little bit goes a long way and will continue to support the local animal welfare charities in our community.

Veterinary student Shawn Flottmeyer has been a World Vets intern for our International Veterinary Medicine Program this summer in Nicaragua. As the program comes to an end, Shawn will not be going home alone. During the program she fell in love with a female street dog that was treated at World Vets Latin America Surgical Training Center. We are thrilled to not only provide veterinary care for animals in need but to also facilitate a loving home.
As part of the 2012 Pacific Partnership mission, a veterinary team is not the only thing that World Vets has on board the USNS Mercy. To support animal welfare efforts in one of the host nations visited,  World Vets has shipped 3,000 pounds of veterinary supply and medicine donations. The recipients of our two pallet shipments are animal welfare charities Zen Cats and CARA Welfare based in the Philippines. We are thrilled at this opportunity made possible by the US Navy lead mission. We are equally as pleased to be of assistance to animals in this South East
Asian nation.

A World Vets team returns this week after performing 223 surgeries and providing surgical instruction to local veterinary students in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. We’d like to thank Fondation Briggite Bardot for their generous support of this project as well as our local partners:  Casa de Orientación y Desarrollo Real (C.O.D.R.), Fundacion Protectora de los Animales Dra. Lois (FUPRADL) and La Escuela de Veterinaria de UASD. And of course our volunteers for making this campaign possible.

The donkeys in Arusha Tanzania are getting much need veterinary care from a World Vets team this week. These donkeys are owned by the Maasai, Meru and Arusha people who rely on them to transport water and firewood on a daily basis. A big thanks to the great people at Vetericyn Wound Spray for helping make this project possible!

Just last week World Vets had a veterinary team working in Cusco Peru. There they provided a much needed free spay/neuter clinic. Alongside sterilization surgery, they also provided health consultations, which included flea and de-worming treatments. Cats and dogs were not the only patients however – our team also tended to a handful of chickens and guinea pigs that showed up!
