We are saddened to share the loss of one of our World Vets’ volunteer veterinarians, Dr. Don Staunton. He lost a long battle, but he had family with him in his final days and was laughing almost to the end. A 1994 graduate of the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Staunton worked in Vernon Hills, Des Plaines, and St. Charles, Illinois until he found his home at Niles Animal Hospital and Bird Medical Center. He was a smart, funny, and very skilled surgeon, a friend and mentor to many. His loss will be deeply felt by all who knew him. He donated his time, energy, and resources to multiple charities throughout his life. He was passionate in using his veterinary skills to improve the lives of animals through World Vets. His giving will continue for years, through Gift of Hope, as he helps broken people become whole again through tissue donation.
Facebook has memorialized his page, so if you want to leave a memory or note, that’s a good place to do so (https://www.facebook.com/don.
