Compassionate Couple Helps Animals on Their BIG Day!

Paige-All

J.F.Hannigan Photography

Newlyweds Paige & Derek Lough share a love for animals. Paige is a Veterinarian and Derek is a Landscape Architect.  Together they live in Guelph, Ontario with their rescued dogs Lucy and Callie (pictured here) and cats Todd and Freddie.  For their big day they asked friends & family to contribute to World Vets and help animals in need around the globe!

Paige volunteered on a veterinary field project in Roatan with World Vets in 2016.  This experience inspired her to choose World Vets as a recipient of donations on her & Derek’s big day.  Paige explained, “I was inspired by the program, the amazing team I worked with, and the team leader in particular Winnie Neunzig.”  She is looking forward to her upcoming World Vets volunteer experience on the island of St.Vincent.

The generous pair had a wedding at Niagara on the Lake, Ontario on January 21st, 2017.  Friends and family of Derek & Paige raised $400 USD in honor of the couple!  This is enough funds to provide a complete health exam and spay/neuter surgery to six animals in need.  What’s more, the couple plans to match this value with an in-kind donation of much needed supplies.

We can’t express enough how thankful we are to have such compassionate supporters like Paige & Derek.  All funds raised by this event directly benefit World Vets and go towards the care of animals that would otherwise have no access to life-saving treatment.

Inviting friends & family to donate in your honor is a wonderful way of supporting the work that we do.  You can register any upcoming event, including weddings, graduations, and birthdays!  To make World Vets a part of your special day, click an image below!

Over the course of 5 years we have successfully performed over 12,000 sterilizations & trained hundreds of Latin American veterinarians and senior vet students. Thanks to your support, this professional training is provided at no cost for trainees.

Couple Makes World Vets a Part of Their Big Day

Lainey & Aron

California newlyweds, Aron Cooperman & Lainey Hu share a love for animals.  Lainey is a veterinarian at Kirkwood Animal Hospital and Aron is an engineer and professional photographer at Open Light Photo.  Together they live in San Jose with their Australian Kelpies, Dally and Cricket (pictured above).  For their big day they asked friends & family to contribute to World Vets and help animals in need around the globe!

The generous pair had a destination wedding in Ambergris Caye, Belize and plan to celebrate with a stateside reception in July of 2015.  Lainey explained that for their big day, she and Aron wanted to give back while encouraging their wedding guests to do the same.  “World Vets is an organization that not only helps more unfortunate countries, but also incorporates teaching students, doctors and technicians alike,” Lainey said of choosing World Vets as a donation recipient.  “It just made sense.”

Lainey began her involvement with World Vets in 2013, when she participated in an Equine project that provided aid to horses in Granada, Nicaragua.  “What better way to see the world and do something more than just sightseeing,” she said of her volunteer experience.  So far, friends & family of Aron and Lainey have raised over $400 in honor of the couple.  All funds raised by this event directly benefits World Vets and goes towards the care of animals that would otherwise have no access to life-saving treatment.

The World Vets team is honored that Aron and Lainey made us a part of their special day. We would like to congratulate them on their recent marriage and thank them for their continued support of World Vets’ mission to improve the health and well being of animals worldwide.

New Friendships Made While Helping Animals in Peru

World Vets volunteer Dr Marian Boden (who performed the surgery) snuggles with Trixie in recovery

A World Vets team has just returned from Peru after providing a very successful large scale spay/neuter campaign within the district of Cusco. In a few short days, our team was able to perform over 200 surgeries as well as assist many animals that had been suffering for a long time. In particular Trixie (pictured left) who was finally able to have her leg amputated after many years of carrying around the lifeless limb. As reported by our local partners, she has made a full recovery and is now up and running about.

This campaign also served as a great reminder about how our projects not only bring together like minded professionals, they also serve as a great opportunity for information exchanges between our volunteers and local practitioners. Many new friendships were made benefiting both furry friends and their local veterinary service providers.

Join our team heading there at the end of this month! Read more here

We’d like to thank Fondation Brigitte Bardot, the alcaldia of San Jeronimo, Pataz, Asociacion Cusco Verde, Lazzy Veterinary Clinic as well as our veterinary team and all local volunteers for their support and participation.
