World Vets provides Surgical Training for Vets in Paraguay

World Vets has been working with Adoptame, an animal welfare organization based in Asuncion, Paraguay, to not only bring quality veterinary care to urban animals, but essential skills and training to local vets.

A World Vets team recently operated a week long surgical training course in Paraguay. Seven local veterinarians participated and over 300 animals benefited from the quality care and veterinary services provided! Throughout the week we conducted daily educational seminars as well as surgical instruction and training for local vets. This opportunity also afforded our team the chance to bring free veterinary services to poor barrios located in Asuncion, the capital.

We’d like to express our gratitude to Fondation Brigitte Bardot for their support of our efforts in Paraguay! We’d also like to thank our dedicated team members for contributing their expertise and energy to this project. And, last but not least, to our partners in Asuncion, for their passion and commitment to animal welfare in their country.

Training Local Veterinarians & Providing Veterinary Services in Paraguay

World Vets recently had a veterinary team in the landlocked South American country of Paraguay. One of the objectives of their visit was to provide free instruction for local veterinarians in performing spay/neuter surgeries. Another aim was to provide a high volume sterilization and animal health clinic for the poor barrios of Asuncion. During their visit, our team encountered very many sick animals requiring a variety of treatments and procedures. Nevertheless, they successfully executed both objectives, which benefited both local professionals in addition to the small animal population.

We would like to thank our team of dedicated volunteers, Fondation Brigitte Bardot as well as local partners Adoptame for their support and efforts that made this campaign possible.

World Vets is in Paraguay this Week!

p2With support from Fondation Brigitte Bardot, a World Vets team has been busy providing a large scale spay/neuter and animal health clinic in poor areas of Asuncion. Our free services are being provided in collaboration with local animal welfare organization “Adoptame” as well as members from national veterinary associations such as AMVEPA and UNASUR.

Before veterinary services began, World Vets field service veterinarian, Dr. Shelley Harper, gave a talk about efficient spay/neuter techniques in relation to providing large scale spay/neuter campaigns. This event was well received and saw 80 Paraguayan vets and veterinary students in attendance!
