World Vets works in two different areas in Nicaragua; Granada and San Juan del Sur. In both locations we work in collaboration with local veterinarians and veterinary clinics; Casa Lupita and Stones & Waves Veterinary Clinic.
At present each project focuses on small animals; sterilization campaigns, health consultations, and zoonotic disease prevention. Though once a year World Vets operates an equine project in Granada to provide veterinary assistance to work horses used for carriage rides and transport as well as for residents of the city who cannot afford these services. Apart from our veterinary projects, we also provide training for Nicaraguan veterinarians and veterinary students in spay and neuter techniques and small animal medicine.
Our Nicaraguan partner clinic is located in the coastal town of San Juan Del Sur at Stones & Waves Veterinary Clinic. In addition to our regular trips to the area, future volunteer opportunties will be made available for individuals and/or smaller groups to assist this clinic on a short and/or long term basis.
