JOB OPENING AT WORLD VETS

DEVELOPMENT AND COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER

World Vets, founded in 2006, is an international veterinary aid organization working in 36 developing countries and also providing international disaster relief services.  World Vets is currently seeking a Development and Communications Manager, a position based at the organization’s headquarters in Fargo, North Dakota.  Resume and cover letter should be emailed to Dr. Cathy King at drcathy@worldvets.org or mailed to 802 1st Ave N, Fargo, ND 58102.  Application deadline: May 22, 2012

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer

Salary:  Commensurate with experience.  Benefits include health insurance, IRA matching plan, paid vacation and holidays.

Position:  World Vets is seeking an innovative, entrepreneurial, philanthropic leader who will set, guide and implement the strategy for all communications, public relations, marketing, and fundraising for the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:

-Develop and implement a long-term fundraising and marketing plan for the organization

-Oversee organizational responses to inquiries about World Vets

-Produce online content that engages audience segments and leads to measurable action

-Identify and cultivate relationships with individual donors, foundations and corporations and successfully raise funds from these sources

-Develop communication strategies to create momentum and awareness of the organization

-Represent World Vets at trade shows and community and industry events

-Seek out new grant funding opportunities, submit competitive applications and assume responsibility for compliance

-Develop and implement a strategic communications plan to advance World Vets brand identity; broaden awareness of its programs and priorities and increase the visibility of its programs across key stakeholder audiences

-Serve as an ambassador and spokesperson for the organization and lead point person on media interactions that help promote and/or impact the organization

-Write press releases for media and articles for World Vets publications

-Establish and implement direct mail campaign; manage donor database

-Job requires some domestic travel and the willingness to travel internationally if needed

-Other duties and related special projects as assigned

 Qualifications and Skills:

-Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field

-A minimum of 5 years experience with nonprofit marketing, public relations and fundraising is preferred

-Strong planning, organizational, time management, communications and multi-tasking skills

-Ability to use good judgment and diplomacy in dealing with conflicts and complex situations.

-Ability to build relationships and be sensitive to communication and style differences in dealing with stakeholders and partners from different cultures

-Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

-Initiative and independence combined with the ability to work as part of a team

-Innovative thinker, with a track record for translating strategic thinking into action plans and output

-Knowledge of marketing, social media and fund development techniques

-Computer experience essential with proficiency in word processing, desktop publishing, spreadsheet, presentation and database software.  WordPress, DonorPerfect and Google AdWords experience a plus.

-Experience with donor database/CRM software

-Flexibility, adaptability and openness to change

-Strong organizational skills and ability to perform with minimal instruction or supervision

-Must be able to adapt to unforeseen changes in day-to-day routine
